Hack-Poets Guild

Hack-Poets Guild - an exciting new collaboration between three of the UK’s most innovative and prestigious folk artists: Marry Waterson, Lisa Knapp and Nathaniel Mann.

Inspired by historic broadside ballads – daily song sheets sold for pence from the sixteenth to twentieth centuries – Marry, Lisa and Nathaniel have rejuvenated and reinvented these stories, with fascinating interpretations and original compositions telling intricate talks of birth, love, conflict and death, with all the imaginations of the folklore from which they are based.

At many venues there will be letterpress printing demonstrations taking place in the foyer from local letterpress printers, with an opportunity for audience members to have a go at printing their own broadside memento.

The group release their debut album ‘Blackletter Garland’ on 10 March and tour from 17–26 March.

You can listen to the first two singles ‘Daring Highwayman’ and ‘Ten Tongues’.
